Senior Accountant

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Finance Director, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day operations of finance and accounting functions, including utility billing, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll. This role serves as Acting Finance Director when the Finance Director is absent, by assignment.

The Senior Accountant may assist the Finance Director regarding oversight and coordination of the City's fiscal and accounting activities including financial accounting and reporting; internal controls; annual budgets; internal auditing; management of financial software systems; payroll; utility billing and collection, local taxes and fees.

As Acting Finance Director, this role would serve as department head of the Finance Department and Utilities Department. Acting Finance Director responsibilities also include coordinating financial and budgetary activities with other departments and outside agencies and oversight of the Boardman Urban Renewal Agency’s fiscal and accounting activities and budgets. As Acting Finance Director, this role also coordinates complex administrative support to the City Manager.

The Senior Accountant will act within the ethical and professional rules of their profession.
