\nThe City received funding from the Oregon Health Authority’s\nDrinking
Water Source Protection Fund to develop the Source Water\nProtection Plan
. The City’s drinking water comes from groundwater\nvia three horizontal
collector wells that draw from a shallow aquifer\nnear the Columbia River
. The Source Water Protection Plan describes\npotential risks to this grou
ndwater source\, identifies strategies to\naddress these risks\, presents
an implementation plan for the\nstrategies\, discusses the City’s contin
 gency plan\, and considers\nfuture water sources.\n\nThe City assembled a
team to guide development of the Source Water\nProtection Plan that consis
ts of representatives from local\norganizations and technical experts. The
City is also holding two\npublic meetings to seek additional input from t
he community. The City\nheld the first meeting on January 21 to share info
rmation about the\nplanning process and the risk assessment for the drinki
ng water\nsource. At the second meeting on May 21\, the City will discuss
the\ndraft Source Water Protection Plan\, including the proposed strategie
s\nand the implementation approach and timeline. Community members are\nin
vited to ask questions about the draft Plan and to provide feedback.\nComm
unity members can attend the May 21 meeting in-person at the\nCommunity De
velopment Conference Room at City Hall or remotely via a\nZoom link. Those
